Ditka: Trump is not a racist

(CHICAGO) Former Chicago Bears Coach Mike Ditka is weighing in on Hillary Clinton’s latest attack against Donald Trump in the Presidential race.    Ditka told “The Big John and Ray Show” on WLS, that Trump, whom he supports for President, is not a racist, as Clinton has alleged.

“Not at all. Not in anyway. You look at the amount of money, and the amazing amounts of money that he’s made for people of all nationalities and colors, I just don’t buy any of it, but then again, this is politics.”

Earlier this summer Ditka reportedly denied an invitation from Trump to speak at the Republican convention in Cleveland.   He also flirted with the idea of running for the U.S. Senate in Illinois in 2004, against then State Senator Barack Obama.

DItka told WLS this morning he does have some regrets about bypassing that race, saying “I do a little bit. I do a little bit in the sense, but I want to say this honestly and I don’t want to sound stupid. I think there is a lack of common sense in America. Everybody is out trying to please other people way too much. Do what’s right for one reason; because it’s the right thing to do. Not for any other reason, not if it’s going to get you something, not because your party tells you to. Do it because it’s the right thing.”

Listen to Ditka’s comments as heard on the Big John and Ray Show on WLS-AM890 here.

Ditka also says one problem with politics in America is that politicians have to “wake up and get their heads out of their butt.”
