(CHICAGO) Mayor Emanuel and Governor Rauner have something new to fight about. It’s about the Dreamers who stand to lose their immigration protections.

Emanuel is calling on Rauner to take the lead to give the Dreamers a state Bill of Rights, “There is a palpable sense of fear that the United States government could rip these kids from their own parents. You are the governor of 42,000 young men and women who call your state their home. Will you use the power and tools as governor to protect them from a careless act by the president of the United States?”

Rauner’s answer is no, “We need comprehensive immigration reform at the federal level with Congress to deal with these challenges. These children do not deserve to be left in limbo. We need resolution. We need comprehensive immigration reform thru Congress.”
