Rauner won’t move Vets from Quincy home

By Bill Cameron, WLS-AM

(CHICAGO)  ln the scandal over the Quincy Veterans home where 13 vets have died in two outbreaks of Legionaries Disease, Governor Bruce Rauner won’t move the vets.

Some say, like Senator Dick Durbin, the Quincy home should be closed. Others say the vets should at least be moved to safer facilities, but the governor argues that’s too dangerous, “They are frail. They are very elderly. That is there home. Legionala bacteria are thruout the State of Illinois and what we can’t do is put them at greater risk. Most medical professionals have said if they are forced to move that transfers, exposure to weather, exposure to other individuals, maybe with lower quality healthcare in other facilities, their risk of possible infection and possible death goes up if they’re forced to move out.”

Rauner says he hasn’t dropped the ball on Quincy and he’d have no problem drinking the water there.
