Rauner stay at vets home called publicity stunt

(QUINCY) Governor Bruce Rauner is staying a few nights at the Quincy Veterans Home where 13 have died from Legionaries Disease, but his GOP challenger’s campaign is calling it “a publicity stunt.”

Challenger Jeanne Ives running-mate, former State Representative Rich Morthland from out in Rock Island County, says he thinks he knows what Rauner’s up to, “I’ll tell ya. I grew up on the farm and ya learn pretty early, if it looks like a duck and walks like a duck and talks like a duck, it’s a duck. And this looks like and talks like a publicity stunt. And what it looks like is damage control for someone who’s failed his obligations to the citizens of the State of Illinois, particularly in this case our most deserving, even needy citizens, our veterans.”

But the Rauner camp says their man is on the scene “to gain a more thorough understanding of the clinical, water-treatment and residential operations of the home.”
