(CHICAGO) Taping “Connected to Chicago” for Sunday night at 7, Jim Durkin – the leader of Republicans in the Illinois House – told Bill Cameron Governor Rauner should sign the revised gun shop licensing bill that he previously vetoed.
Rauner vetoed this bill when he had a primary challenger from the right, but Durkin tells me he should now sign the revised bill because a bureaucratic nightmare has been removed from the gun shop bill, “I feel that having an extra level of oversight with the Illinois State Police gives me some level of comfort, particularly when it comes to illegal purchases, straw purchases.”
Durkin also says sexual predators are not just an issue for Chicago Public Schools. He says it happens in some suburban and downstate school districts and they must up their due diligence to make sure they screen out the predators. bc
