About three dozen members of the Central American migrant caravan have been arrested by Mexican authorities and will be deported back to their home countries.

Police say 34 people have been arrested in Tijuana on charges including drug possession and disturbing the peace.

So far about 3,000 migrants have arrived in Tijuana where they will stay while seeking legal asylum in the U.S. Thousands more are expected to arrive in the coming weeks.

Tijuana Mayor Juan Manuel Gastelum said last week that “there are some good people in the caravan, but many are very bad for the city”.
