(CHICAGO) Thursday’s shocking FBI raid of Ald Ed Burke’s ward and City Council Finance Committee offices has the powerful alderman trying to sound NOT to sound worried. City Hall watcher have heard this before.

Burke says this isn’t the first time he’s been investigated and in the past nothing’s come of it, but he’ll co-operate with this probe.

It reminds WLS’ Political Editor Bill Cameron of what Burke’s mentor the late and legendary Mayor Richard J. Daley used to say, “If you don’t do anything that’s wrong, then you shouldn’t worry if 15 want to investigate you! (laughter and applause) And they’ve been investigating me for 30 or 40 years!”

In the short term, though, Ed Burke’s got to get himself re-elected alderman to remain Chairman of Finance and this raid gives his hispanic challengers ammunition.
