Cops: Florida Nurse Used Dying Patient’s Credit Card to Buy New Jeep

A Florida nurse has been arrested after stealing an elderly patient’s credit card and using it to put a down payment on a Jeep, police say.

Delray Beach resident Timothy Fenster, 21, was working as a nursing assistant for a company that assigned him to provide in-home care for an 87-year-old man in late November, police say. Although the patient died only a few days after Fenster was hired, in that time he managed to steal $107 in cash from a dresser drawer and the patient’s credit card from his wife’s purse, according to court documents.

The widow of the patient realized something was amiss when she received her credit card statement, which showed charges at Walmart, McDonald’s and a local car dealership, where Fenster reportedly purchased a new Jeep, investigators say. Fenster, who was arrested over the weekend, has been charged with grand theft from a person 65 or older, theft of a credit card and illegal use of credit cards to obtain goods.
