CHICAGO (AP) -- Republican candidate for governor Bill Brady wants to sweeten tax incentives for businesses that create new jobs.

Brady visited a steel plant on Chicago's southwest side Monday and said businesses should get two years of tax breaks when they create a job.

The Bloomington state senator proposes giving businesses a $2,500 tax credit in the first year and another $1,250 in the second year for every new job.

Brady had previously proposed a $2,100 credit, but Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn criticized that because it was lower than a $2,500 small-business tax credit he had already signed into law.

Brady has said his plan is better because it includes businesses of all sizes.
