(CHICAGO) Lincoln Park Zoo’s two tigers will soon be relocated as part of a massive rehab project.
The historic Kovler Lion House is being revamped, meaning there’s no room for the zoo’s two Amur tigers named Molly and Pavel. Instead, the zoo will focus on lions.
Kevin Bell, the zoo’s president and CEO said Thursday that tigers are typically more antisocial and difficult to keep as a group, and that Molly and Pavel will be sent to a new home zoo.
Bell didn’t rule out the possibility of tigers returning though. He said at some point, they’ll look to add a tiger habitat at the south end of the zoo.
