(CHICAGO) A former Illinois congressman is being indicted.
Aaron Schock, who garnered attention for decorating his Capitol Hill office in the style of the the TV series “Downtown Abbey,” resigned in March of last year and has been under investigation for campaign spending and ethics allegations.
The 35-year-old was once a rising star in the Republican Party, and has said he has never intentionally done anything wrong. The charges come after a 19-month investigation and two grand juries.
Schock’s attorney says the indictment is be based on “made-up allegations of criminal activity” that resulted from “unintentional administrative errors.”
