CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have agreed to terms on a one-year, $3.5-million contract with second baseman Brett Lawrie and a one-year, $3.0-million contract with outfielder Avisail Garcia.
Garcia, 25, batted .245 (101-413) with 12 home runs, 51 RBI and 59 runs scored over 120 games with the White Sox in 2016. He ranked fourth in the American League with a .355 (33-93) average with runners in scoring position.
Lawrie, 26, batted .248 (87-351) with 22 doubles, 12 home runs, 36 RBI and 35 runs scored over 94 games last season, his first with the Sox after being acquired from Oakland on December 9, 2015. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list on July 27 (retroactive to July 21) with a strained left hamstring and did not play the rest of the season.
All remaining unsigned White Sox players have been tendered contracts for the 2017 season. The Sox 40-man roster decreases to 38.
