(CHICAGO) – May is Motorcycle Awareness Month and motorists are again being urged to “start seeing motorcycles.”
Motorcycle enthusiasts want drivers to slow down, keep an eye out for bikers and pay attention to the roads. Ryan Hubbard is with ABATE, A Brotherhood Aimed Toward Education.
“That means put down your damn cell phone. too many people are getting run over because you’re playing a game, you’re trying to pick up a Pokemon at a stop sign, or your texting with somebody else and you’re running over one of my brothers or sisters.”
Illinois State Police remind motorcyclists not to drink and drive and to make sure they have on protective gear. Motorcycle riders make up 15-percent of all traffic fatalities in Illinois.
