(CHICAGO) A swim in Lake Michigan proves deadly for a Chicago girl on the city’s North Side.
13 year old Tianna Hollinside, of the Rogers Park neighborhood, jumped into Lake Michigan near the 7700 block of North Eastlake Terrace late Tuesday morning.
Brad Gibbs lives in the area, saw the girl struggling, and jumped into the water to try to help her. “I felt bad that I wasn’t able to find her and that it didn’t turn out better,” said Gibbs.
Divers say they arrived on the scene within a few minutes and due to the current and limited visibility it took them about 45 minutes to find the teenager.
They performed CPR and rushed her to an Evanston hospital were she died just a couple of hours later.
