CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have announced their 2018 regular-season schedule, with Opening Day on Friday, March 29 at Kansas City (3:15 p.m. CT). The season opener is part of a three-game series (with an off day on March 30) against the division-rival Royals. The Sox open the season against an American League Central opponent for the 14th time in the last 16 seasons.
Following a three-game series in Toronto from April 2-4, the White Sox celebrate their home opener at Guaranteed Rate Field on Thursday, April 5 vs. Detroit. After an off day on Friday, April 6, the Sox conclude their three-game series with the Tigers (April 7-8) before playing host to Tampa Bay from April 9-11 to end the first homestand of the season.
The White Sox welcome the remaining non-divisional AL teams to Guaranteed Rate Field on the following dates: Houston (April 20-22), Seattle (April 23-25), Texas (May 17-20), Baltimore (May 21-24), Oakland (June 21-24), Toronto (July 27-29), New York (August 6-8), Boston (August 30-September 2) and Los Angeles (September 7-9).
The St. Louis Cardinals (May 1-2 at Busch Stadium; July 10-11 at Guaranteed Rate Field) are the first of five interleague opponents the White Sox face in 2018. Chicago will play host to Milwaukee from June 1-3 for just the fourth time (1998, 2000 and ’12) since the Brewers moved to the National League in 1998. The White Sox travel to Cincinnati July 2-4 for just the fifth time in franchise history and first since 2009.
Other 2018 interleague series include: the Crosstown Series vs. the Cubs
(May 11-13 at Wrigley Field; September 21-23 at Guaranteed Rate Field) and Pittsburgh (May 8-9 at Guaranteed Rate Field; May 15-16 at PNC Park).
The Sox have one, three-team homestand (August 30-September 9) and the team takes two, three-city trips next season (June 29-July 8 and September 10-20).
The 2018 schedule is tentative and subject to change. Finalized game times and a complete broadcast schedule will be released at a later date.
