The mayor of Carbon Hill, Alabama is facing calls to resign after an anti-LGBTQ Facebook post in which he suggests “killing them out”.

Mark Chambers has since deleted the post, which lamented “homosexuals”, “transvestites”, “baby killers”, and “socialists”, and said “The only way to change it would be to kill the problem out.”

Chambers says his comments were intended for a ‘private conversation’ and weren’t meant to be public. He later apologized on Facebook, saying his post was “taken out of context and was not targeting the LGBTQ community”.
