A Florida couple is celebrating after finally winning a six-year legal battle – for the right to grow vegetables in their yard.

Hermine Ricketts and Tom Carroll had kept a vegetable garden on their front lawn for years until a local zoning ordinance forced them to get rid of it or be fined $50 a day.

But this week, a new state law went into effect putting a stop to local bans on gardens. Ricketts celebrated by planting peppers, okra, squash, and cherry tomatoes.
