Man Who Sold AK-47 to Garlic Festival Gunman Apologizes

The man who sold the AK-47 used to kill three people and injured 12 others at the Gilroy Garlic Festival has apologized to the victims of Sunday’s mass shooting.

The owner of Big Mike’s Gun and Ammo in Fallon, Nevada, who identified himself only as “Mike,” on Monday posted a Facebook message in which he admitted to selling suspected shooter Santino Legan the weapon used in Sunday’s mass shooting. “I did not know this individual,” Mike wrote. “He ordered the rifle off my Internet page. When I did see him, he was acting happy and showed no reasons for concern. I would never ever sell any firearm to anyone who acted wrong or looks associated with any bad group like white power. Everyone is my brother and sister and I am mourning for the families.”

Authorities say the 19-year-old Legan dressed in fatigues and cut through a fence to enter the popular festival before opening fire on the crowd. The three people who died included a 6-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl. Legan was killed in a subsequent gunfight with Gilroy police.
