A 79-year-old Ohio woman has been sentenced to jail time for the crime of feeding stray cats.

Nancy Segula says she’s a “cat lover” who couldn’t resist helping a few stray cats that she says were abandoned by a neighbor.

But feeding stray animals is illegal in the ironically-named town of Garfield Heights, OH, and Segula was give four citations before a judge sentenced her to 10 days in county jail.

Segula’s family says they’re outraged by the decision to send a 79-year-old woman to jail for feeding cats. Segula is due to report to jail in August.
