A 14-year-old Syracuse teen is facing kidnapping charges after stealing a car with children still inside.

Police say the teen jumped into a parked car and began driving off with 6 and 7-year-old children still sitting in the back seat.

The mother, who was standing outside the car at the time, hung on to the car and was dragged until another motorist drove in front of the car to block it. The 14-year-old then fled on foot and was later apprehended.

The children were unharmed but the mother suffered a few scratches. The teen is facing charges including robbery, kidnapping, and reckless endangerment.
