A Missouri man is behind bars after walking through a Springfield Walmart in full body armor, carrying a loaded rifle.

The incident occurred Thursday just after 4:30 p.m., police say. The man, who has not been identified, was seen walking up and down the store’s aisles, apparently recording video with his cellphone, according to police. He was wearing military fatigues under the body armor and was openly carrying about 100 rounds of ammunition, police say. The store’s manager got customers to safety by pulling a fire alarm, prompting shoppers to evacuate.

While investigators have not yet determined the man’s motive, Lt. Mike Lucas says it surely wasn’t good. “His intent was not to cause peace or comfort,” Lucas says. “He’s lucky he’s alive still, to be honest.”
