Illinois Raises Teacher Minimum Salary To $40,000

Illinois is raising the minimum salary for teachers in the state to $40,000 a year.

Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed off on the bill on Thursday, saying it sends a message to both students and parents that “We value teachers”. The previous minimum salary for teachers was just $10,000 per year.

The move comes just six months after Gov. Pritzker signed legislation to raise the state’s minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2025.
