12-Year-Old Kidnapping Victim Makes Daring Escape from Moving Vehicle

A 12-year-old kidnapping victim in Florida is safe and sound after executing a daring escape from his captor’s moving vehicle, police say.

The incident occurred Wednesday, just after the victim stepped off a school bus in Boynton Beach, police say. As he began walking home, 26-year-old Timothy Miller pulled up in a pickup and offered the boy a lift, saying he gives “kids rides all the time and not to worry because he won’t do anything weird,” Miller’s arrest report indicates. But moments after getting into the vehicle, the boy became uncomfortable when Miller allegedly asked him if he had any drugs. The boy tried opening the door, prompting Miller to speed up and tell him he couldn’t leave. The boy jumped out anyway.

A number of witnesses saw the boy leap from the vehicle and one of them followed Miller, which led to his arrest, police say. He’s been charged with kidnapping, resisting arrest with violence and child neglect. The boy suffered only minor cuts and bruises, police say.
