David Koch, former CEO of Koch Industries and billionaire political donor, has died at the age of 79.

David and his brother Charles were among the world’s wealthiest people, and known as a major behind-the-scenes force in the world of politics, donating more than a billion dollars to various Republican campaigns.

But more recently the Koch brothers had criticized the Trump administration and announced they would not be supporting Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign.

Koch had been diagnosed with cancer 27 years ago and given just five years to live. He is survived by his wife Julia and their three children.
