NBC’s Lester Holt recently spent time in jail. Not because he did anything wrong.

Holt stayed 2 nights in a Louisiana State Penitentiary for a Dateline NBC report on the criminal justice system. The prison is nicknamed Angola.

Holt was hesitant about the stay. He said, “At first, I was like, ‘it’s dangerous. ‘This is one of the most notorious prisons of the world, and you want to lock me up? What about safety?”

Holt will share the stories of people he met on Friday’s Dateline.
