At the risk of sounding callous: if you’re going to kill yourself, don’t try to take anyone else with you.

A dad is dead and his 5-year-old daughter injured after witnesses say he jumped onto subway tracks in the Bronx about 8 a.m. Monday morning.

News 12 The Bronx reports the man was overheard talking to someone on the phone in Spanish saying, “I don’t care” and “goodbye,” before jumping with the child. Somehow, the little girl fell into a void between the tracks and was spared while her 45-year-old father was killed.

Another man was caught on camera rescuing the girl from underneath the train.
