Turns out that Boris Johnson shouldn’t have suspended Parliament in the lead up to the Brexit vote, with the UK Supreme Court ruling the move is illegal.

Tuesday’s unanimous decision says Johnson “had the effect of frustrating or preventing the ability of parliament to carry out its constitutional functions without reasonable justification.”

The British Prime Minister argued previously that he needed the five-week time period from September 10 to October 14 to outline his government’s new policies.

Speakers of the Commons and Lords should decide what to do next, said the court, while Johnson faces calls to resign.
