The hottest planet in our galaxy may have once been a pretty cool place to live.
That’s according to a new NASA study, which has found that Venus was likely once habitable with a pleasant climate that supported water. In fact, in a computer simulation showing the planet two billion years ago, it bears a strong resemblance to Earth.
But before you start packing your bags for a trip to Venus, it should be noted that things have changed over time. NASA researchers say at some point, an unknown event caused a dramatic shift in Venus’ climate that’s left it with an average temperature of 462 degrees.
