There might be plastic in your tea

This may be tough news to swallow. That gourmet tea you love to sip could include billions of plastic particles.

Testing by McGill University in Montreal, Canada has found that brands using “silken” bags instead of paper released billions of microplastic and nanoplastic when dipped into hot water.

CBC Radio Canada reports testing found an average of 16 micrograms in a cup – much more than what’s found in other foods including something that uses a lot of plastic – bottled water.
