Man Serves 10 Days In Jail For Missing Jury Duty

A Florida man spent 10 days behind bars after oversleeping and missing jury duty.

21-year-old Deandre Somerville says he overslept and missed his jury assignment in a civil trial back in August. He admits he made things worse by not notifying the court, saying he was too nervous.

Somerville was sentenced to 10 days in jail, which he says was “traumatizing” and gave him a criminal record for the first time. Now he’s appealing the decision, hoping to clear his record.
