Tensions continue to escalate between the United States and China, with the U.S. now blacklisting 28 different Chinese companies and government agencies over the countries treatment of Muslim minorities.

The companies may not buy goods from the United States without government permission. The U.S. alleges that China has detained “an estimated 1 million Uighurs” and have placed them in “vocational like” detention centers, according to The Week.

One company blacklisted is a world-leading surveillance equipment manufacturer; others are companies that develop surveillance software.
