Economists Awarded Nobel Prize For Work Fighting Poverty

A trio of economists from Harvard and MIT have been awarded a Nobel Prize for their work fighting poverty.

Esther Duflo, Michael Kremer, and Abhijit Banerjee were awarded the 2019 Nobel Economics Prize on Monday. Duflo is just the second woman ever to win the economics prize.

The Nobel Academy honored the trio’s work in addressing how poverty can be addressed, including healthcare subsidies and expanded tutoring for schoolchildren in India.
