Chicago Suburb Reschedules Halloween because of Snow

While a number of schools and cities around the country have been trying to move away from celebrating Halloween, one Chicago suburb is trying to help kids snag as much candy as they can on the upcoming holiday.

With up to three inches of snow expected to fall on Thursday, Vernon Hills has rescheduled trick-or-treating for Saturday so kids have an opportunity to cover more ground. “Due to the forecast of inclement weather and anticipated snow, the village is concerned for the safety of children crossing streets when traffic conditions will be at their worst,” village officials wrote in a Facebook post.

Forecasters say Thursday could mark the Chicago area’s snowiest Halloween on record.
