Better enjoy those pork chops while you can! The African Swine Flu is expected to wipe out a quarter of the world’s pig population, which could send prices on pork soaring.

The lack of pigs could also affect medicine supplies for items like the blood-thinner Heparin, which is made from pigs, according to ABC News.

China has destroyed over 1.2 million pigs since August 2018 just to try to contain the flu. China alone produces two-thirds of the world’s pork.
