Kentucky court rules against LGBTQ group

The Kentucky Supreme Court Thursday ruled against an LGBTQ group because the wrong party filed the lawsuit.

NBC News reports the case centered around a print shop owner who declined to print a gay pride shirt over religious objections.

In their ruling, the justices wrote the outcome “is no doubt disappointing to many…, the fact that the wrong party filed the complaint makes the discrimination analysis almost impossible to conduct, including issues related to freedom of expression and religion.”

The case had been filed by an advocacy group which the justices ruled lacked standing. Two lower courts earlier ruled in the shop’s favor.
