A Hong Kong politician had his ear partially bitten off during a knife attack outside a shopping mall.

Four people were injured in the attack, including district councilor Dr. Andrew Chiu, whose left ear was bitten. Chiu was reportedly trying to break up a fight when he was attacked.

Chiu has sided with the pro-democracy protests in Hong Kong, although it’s not clear if that was the reason for the attack. The suspect, a 48-year-old man, is in custody.
