A Wisconsin man could be facing hate crime charges for allegedly throwing battery acid in the face of a Latino man during an arguement.

The victim, 42-year-old Mahud Villalaz, says he was attacked by a man who accused him of being in the country illegally, even though he is a U.S. citizen.

Police have arrested the 61-year-old suspect and are investigating the incident as a hate crime. Villalaz has been released from the hospital and his family has set up a GoFundMe to help with his medical bills.
