USDA Tariff Tracker Removes Black Panther’s Wakanda As Free Trade Partner

Apparently, up until Wednesday agricultural products from Wakanda could be imported to the United States, with the fictional East African nation from Marvel’s Black Panther listed as a free trade partner.

According to the US Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service, they put the country into the Tariff Tracker while testing the dropdown menu and forgot to remove it when finished.

“I was trying to figure out whether this is someone at the USDA making a joke or if it’s a developer who accidentally left it in, but I’m not sure,” said Francis Tseng from the Jain Family Institute, who adds, “I definitely did a double-take.”

USDA spokesman Mike Illenberg admitted, “The Wakanda information should have been removed after testing and has now been taken down.”
