After a mysterious green slime was seen oozing onto Interstate 696 in Madison Heights on Friday, investigators were called out. Turns out, it’s hexavalent chromium, a cancer-causing chemical.

Authorities believe it’s leaking from a local business. According to the Michigan State Police, a clean up is underway, which could take days to complete.

Brockovich took on the Pacific Gas and Electric Company in the 90s after hexavalent chromium was found leaching into California’s water supply.
