Philadelphia Hires the City’s 1st Black Woman Commissioner

Mayor Jim Kinney announced the appointment of Danielle Outlaw as Philadelphia’s new police Commissioner.

Danielle Outlaw is 44 years old and was recently the police chief in Portland, Oregon.

She was chosen from 30 candidates and is the City’s first African American woman commissioner.

The appointment comes four months after the abrupt resignation of former police Commissioner Richard Ross.
