NTSB Sending Crew To Kobe Crash Site

An 18-member team of investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board is heading to the scene of the helicopter crash that killed NBA legend Kobe Bryant along with his daughter and seven other passengers.

Flying in foggy conditions, the helicopter was bound for the Mamba Sports Academy in Thousand Oaks, reports the New York Times .

“Our deepest sympathies to those that lost loved ones in this tragic event,” said NTSB board member Jennifer Homendy, who notes that the response is normal protocol for these sorts of crashes.

The chopper had gone down in Calabasas, California on Sunday morning, killing all on board, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
