With fears of interference once again in the US election, what exactly is Russia’s endgame?

Perhaps Vladimir Putin doesn’t have a preference for who sits in the White House. According to one FBI official, the plan is more sinister.

David Porter, an assistant section chief with the agency’s Foreign Influence Task Force, warned Monday that Russia wants to see US citizens “tear ourselves apart.”

Porter says the goal is to make Americans distrust all news sources and the country’s democratic institutions, plus drive wedges through society.
