U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Jerome Adams warns that the U.S. has reached a “critical inflection point” in the coronavirus outbreak.

During an appearance on Fox & Friends Monday, Adams said the U.S. was “where Italy was two weeks ago” and urged Americans to follow basic health guidelines like washing hands and cleaning surfaces.

Adams called bans on public gatherings “tough decisions” and said the most important prevention methods were hand-washing and avoiding people who are sick.
