Couple Gets $2000 Fine For Facebook Post

Police in Australia are taking the country’s coronavirus lockdown seriously. Almost a bit too seriously.

A couple was slapped with a $3,300 ($2,100 USD) fine for breaching stay-at-home laws after sharing their vacation photos to Facebook.

However, the snaps were actually taken pre-pandemic in June 2019. Officers in Victoria tore up the tickets after learning of their mistake.

According to Jaz Mott, the sergeant called her to say the fines were revoked, adding, “Then he basically told me not to post any more photos while the lockdown is in place.”
