AZ Governor Extends Invitation to MLB

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey says he’s more than happy to allow all 30 Major League Baseball teams to play in his state.

Ducey’s comment is in response to MLB’s proposed plan to play out the 2020 season at Arizona’s spring training facilities, which would initially occur in empty ballparks. “Arizona, at the right time, is very open minded to hosting whatever Major League Baseball would like from the state,” Ducey says. “At the time that it would be appropriate for public health, if Arizona were in a position to reopen, we have the facilities that are here.”

Arizona is home to 10 spring training parks, as well as the Diamondbacks’ Chase Field and several college facilities.
