College Students Are Suing To Get Their Tuition And Fees Back

With classes moved online and students leaving campuses to go into self-isolation to avoid catching or spreading the coronavirus, many are asking for some of their money back.

A lawsuit has been filed against Liberty University, demanding room and board payments be returned, claiming, “The students also no longer received or could not otherwise obtain the services and activities from Liberty for which their fees for the semester paid.”

According to CBS News , the private evangelical university asks $4,450 for a meal plan, while student housing ranged from $4,750 to $8,000 per year.

“Liberty’s attorneys will defend against this lawsuit,” said the school in a statement, adding that they’ll give a $1,000 credit to students who opted to leave campus.
