With Streets Empty, Speeders Take Off

With people staying home during the coronavirus outbreak, there are fewer cars on the road.

Thanks to less traffic, those with the need for speed have turned the streets into racetracks.

Cops all over the world are busting drivers pinging their speedometers, many reportedly over 100 mph. In cities with radar cameras, the number of tickets issued has surged.

According to transportation data analytics firm INRIX, since the lockdowns went into effect, some highways have seen the average speed increase by 75% compared to January and February.
