NYC Pride Parade Canceled For First Time In Its 50 Year History

The 50th anniversary of New York City’s Pride Parade will be postponed for the first time in its history.

In an effort to stem the spread of the COVID-19 outbreak, the Big Apple has canceled all permits for large gatherings through the end of June.

This means the Celebrate Israel, Puerto Rican Day and LGBTQ pride parades are all on hold for now, with Mayor Bill de Blasio promising that they’ll reschedule, “when it’s the right time.”

All related events for the festivities are also off, with plans instead to host a 24-hour virtual “Global Pride” broadcast on June 27.
