Southern California residents got a rude awakening early this morning.

A 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck just after midnight Wednesday in the vicinity of the Newport-Inglewood fault zone.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, light shaking could be felt in South L.A., Inglewood, Culver City, Playa Vista, and at Los Angeles International Airport, while weaker shaking was detected further out.

The area has been hit with two other 3.0 or greater quakes in the past 10 days.
