CDC has possible flareup plan

CDC officials have planned for the possibility of COVID-19 flareups as states move forward with reopening plans.

The Associated Press was able to obtain a copy of the 63-page plan, which the Administration has chosen not to follow. It reportedly includes guidelines on how to safely reopen businesses and schools, as well as under which conditions they should be shuttered again.

In contrast with the CDC’s nationally coordinated approach, the official White House “Opening Up America Again” plan – which includes some of the CDC’s guidelines – leaves decision making up to state governors and local officials.

CDC guidelines also weren’t explicitly followed when many of the nation’s governors initially locked their states down. The CDC had called for a measured approach based on the number of cases in individual areas, rather than sweeping lock downs.
